The Bayelsa State Centre for Youth Development has issued a strong warning to Mr. Doubara Kumokou, cautioning him against representing the state’s youths in public statements. According to a press statement signed by the Centre’s Director General, Comrade Robert Igali, JP, Kumokou has no mandate to speak on behalf of Bayelsa youths.
The Centre described Kumokou’s recent birthday message to Chief Timipre Sylva, where he claimed to speak for the youths, as “absurd” and a “breach of protocol.” Igali emphasized that only constitutionally recognized officials, such as the Honourable Commissioner for Youth Development and the Director General of the Centre, are empowered to represent the collective voice of Bayelsa youths.
The Centre views Kumokou’s actions as a distortion of structure and a disruption of order, warning that further infractions will be treated seriously. Comrade Igali urged Bayelsa youths to remain focused and committed to channels of leadership rooted in truth, service, and legitimacy.
The Bayelsa State Centre for Youth Development reaffirmed its commitment to preserving institutional order and ensuring that the voices of young people are expressed through the right vessels.
